Chinese Expulsion Remembrance & March For the Future 2/12
On February 12, many Chinese community organizations, led by United Chinese Americans of Washington(UCAWA) organized a walk to the Seattle Waterfront in remembrance of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Seattle City Riot in 1886 repulsing Chinese to the harbor and onto the boat to San Francisco and to return to China. Racism towards the AAPI community remained to be a big social and political issue in the United States since it was repealed in 1943. The Greater Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce took a role in organizing the event, focusing on the anti-Asian attacks and racial bigotry that are not acceptable in today's world. Thank you for the participation of many of our local public officials; Former Washington Governor, Gary Locke, Congressman Adam Smith, City Mayor, Bruce Harrell, Bellevue Mayor, Lynne Robinson, and, many more who attended and spoke in support of the event. |

Ongoing Community Outreach
The Chamber has continued its community outreach efforts in December and January. In the last two months, board members visited small businesses in Seattle Chinatown, chatted with business owners on the pandemic's impact on them, gave them PPE supplies, and gave them posters related to the City of Seattle labor laws.
We will continue our efforts to help the local Chinese businesses through this challenging time.
