THE SEATTLE CHINESE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION ESTABLISHES TAIWAN TYPHOON MORAKOT RELIEF ACCOUNT SEATTLE
(August 24, 2009) - The Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce Foundation has set-up a donation account at U.S. Bank in an effort to support the victims and relief effort underway following Typhoon Morakot's attack in Taiwan on August 8, 2009.
Anyone who wishes to make a donation can do so at any U.S. Bank office in Washington or at any of the 2,850 U.S. Bank offices across the United States. The proceeds from all donations will be forwarded by The Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce Foundation directly to the Red Cross Society of the Republic of China in Taiwan.
"Many of our members and friends in the community have expressed a deep outpouring of well wishes and a desire to further their support in whatever way possible," said Lawrence Pang, President of The Greater Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce. "The flooding and landslides in Taiwan have been the focus of our attention for this past week, and we are proud to step forward with an outlet for this support to reach the people who need it most in Taiwan."
This is not the first time that The Greater Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce has stepped forward with disaster assistance. It coordinated the Hurricane Katrina Fund Drive to support hurricane victims in New Orleans in Oct 2005, and the China Earthquake Fund Drive in May 2008.
